I just got back from a trip to Wisconsin for work. It was a perfect work trip. The bank was great, I had squeaky cheese curds and went hiking at Eau Claire Dells.

Hairy Weekend

I had a whirlwind weekend in mid-September. I started doing hair for a friend’s wedding in Duncan Nebraska Saturday morning. The bride was stunning. I absolutely loved her vintage style that she chose for her wedding so I decided to do a little finger wave inspired updo.
After the updos, I drove straight to Iowa to see my brother and his family. I was anxious to see their new house. John rescued some of the original flocked wall paper for me. I am sure I will be posting some project involving that soon. That night we had yummy drinks and some hot tub time. The next day I got to do my nieces hair before senior pictures. I am sure they will turn out great. I got to stay in the guest bedroom that was soon to be Maria’s room(Spanish foreign exchange student.) They had the room decorated really fun and even had pictures hung up of her and her family and friends. I thought that was such a great idea!

M&N

Morgan made me try M&N Sandwiches recently. The place was a total dive. The owner, Norm, was like the Soup Nazi of Chicago style sandwiches! He yelled at us for being late, explaining that the sandwiches would not be juicy anymore. Morgan told me if you order too slow he will tell you to “call back when you know what you want!” and then hang up on you.

Herban Garden

Have a look at my wonderful herban garden. God I am hilarious. This summer I was relieved from the role of the grim reaper of herbs! I am growing peppermint, sweet marjoram, thyme, garlic chives and sweet basil. I am also growing purple ruffled basil. I created a fantastic drink with that and vodka that I infused with ultra dark chocolate and club soda. I have three hibiscus plants and some other mystery plants. I recently went through all of my belongings (and I mean all, I had boxes that I moved here from Chadron seven years ago that had not been opened) to simplify my belongings and came across some beauties to hang around the garden from the past. My fish are from a trip to Mexico with my sister a few years ago, and a wind chime that Shannon got me before she left for her tour in the Middle East.
I also updated my patio furniture. My former deck chairs were rescued by the farmer’s Market next door and now are used for seating during the event every Wednesday next door. I have made it there a few times. There is a Frenchman that makes the best pound cake I have ever had. He is also adorable, I would love to take him home with me.

This weekend my brother and his family came to Lincoln to get their hair done and hang out for a bit. Dan even let me put a pink and black feather in Melissa’s hair. : D
It was a great break from all of the work I have been doing to my place, I can’t wait to post those pics….they should be coming within the week!

Allison came over on Friday for some cupcake baking. We made mixed berry and lavender cupcakes and cherry almond rose cupcakes. They were both delicious! I can’t wait for our next cupcakes…green tea cupcakes with chamomile frosting!
